Product photography and time to market!

The need for speed

The pace of work in most companies is constantly increasing, this also applies to studio work. One of the most common comment we get in our internal studio is that we must be able to deliver faster, preferably the day before we get the products to the studio.

Many people who work in photo studios will probably agree that the pressure for fast deliveries is increasing. The fact that products also tend to have an ever-shorter life cycle makes it important to quickly get the products on the store shelf, for e-commerce this means putting images and information in the web shop.

However, the requirements tend to differ if you are a retailer of products or if you are a brand that designs and sells your own products. However, the demands for fast deliveries are increasing regardless.

The challenge of brands

For those brands that continue to sell through retailers, the entire sales work will be digital. In the past, many brands worked on physical meetings where new products could be presented to retailers. Today, most of these meetings take place digitally and it is images, and possibly videos, that should illustrate the products.

This means that the samples coming from the factory are now going into the studio to be photographed and then quickly sent out to different presentation platforms. The samples then often need to be shipped to other locations for model photography or locations photography. In other words, time is becoming more and more critical even for brands.

How will the studio meet these requirements?

An important aspect of this is to keep up with new technology and invest in the right solutions to optimize their flows. On the photo side, there are today a variety of systems that allow photo production to be streamlined. Systems such as Styleshoots reduce the thresholds for photograph products, you no longer need to be a top photographer to produce relatively good product images.

In addition, workflow solutions help studios to optimize product and image workflows, example of such a system is Assetflow. These are systems that keep track of samples, product information and images and makes it possible to plan and monitor production. Assetflow enables studios to plan production both in the short term and in the long term. By using systems such as Assetflow, companies can optimize studio work and significantly increase the throughput of products, it will also be possible to prioritize and re-prioritize productions based on market requirements.
